Snow Day!

"Look out for the Abominable Dickens!"

A rare heavy snowfall Monday night knocked out the power long enough to reduce the contents of the fridge to a science project and make me wonder how, after stoking a wood-burning furnace twice a day for eight or nine years at the old house, I was unable to get a fire going in the small woodstove in the living room. But hey, the dogs had fun, and that's what counts, right?

  1. It's so not spring in north bend, wa. Is it spring in myrtle beach, or? My momma's cranky about all the winter here.

  2. Not spring here, either, not even close. One upside to the wet weather is we get a chance to practice sits, stands, and stand-stays a half-dozen times a day when the dogs come back in from sloshing around the sodden back yard. Dickens now offer his right foot for drying, then his left, from a sit, often without prompting.

  4. All okay, nothing new to write about lately. Weather is good, so the back yard is getting a lot of use. Dickens is coming up on his one-year anniversary with us in August. He's really settled down since his arrival, although there are occasional incidents that remind me just how far he's come...
